A single buyer on Friday bought nearly 12,000 acres in Kentucky put up for auction by Kimball International, Inc. The buyer paid about $24.6 million for the land, which is in Union and Crittenden counties in Western Kentucky and is known as the “Sturgis” property. Rex Schrader, the president of Schrader Real Estate and Auction Co., declined to give the buyer’s name.

Wildfires continue in Southeast Kentucky
Since Oct. 1, the beginning of fall forest fire hazard season, a total of 475 fires have burned 9,488 acres throughout southeastern Kentucky. These wildfires create unnecessary expense, damage valuable resources and threaten lives of people.
